What should you do if you’ve been experiencing pain in the lower back/spine and part of your upper back?

My grandmother has been experiencing pain in her back since approximately mid January last month, she’s seen a doctor and they prescribed her pain killers which don’t work that well. We have a physical therapist come and give her a massage, and we tried using the adhesive bandages which take the pain away for a little bit but then it comes back we wanted to give her an X-ray but when they came they said they couldn’t do an X-ray because it’s the lower back. It’s hard for her to walk but she’s able to do just really slowly and painfully. We want to take her to a place for an MRI but we are waiting for the weather to get a little nicer. Is there anything that can be done to cure this pain? She didn’t have it before.
