Because we have to give all the nachos and negroes welfare money.
We have a morbidly obese bed bound defense budget for that
The money is there.
The choice to provide care is absent.
Mike won’t pay
Forgive me for this but I don't want my hard earned money paying for some deadbeat who doesn't want to get a decent enough job to pay for his own insurance. If the country pays for it, then it's our tax money that they're paying it with. Everyone should pull their own weight. And I'm not some person who was born with a silver spoon in their mouth; I worked nights while going to college while having a child so that I could be self sufficient one day,....as everyone should!
Yes, technically the govt could raise taxes on everyone to pay for health care instead of us paying for insurance, but the price would go up (or rationing would happen) and the quality would go down. See the high inflation rates of college tuition as an example. When govt subsidizes it, the private market costs controls go away and the price inflates, and wait lines increase.
Sorry, but only one country has almost 100% universal government health care and that's the UK. Maybe Sweden and others too. I live in a European country and I have to pay about $400 (USD) a month for mandetory basic health care. Health insurance is only provided by commercial companies just like the US.
Ever talk with someone from Europe who is provided "free" healthcare? If you ever get the chance, ask them how long it takes them to see a doctor for help. Those Europeans I've talked with told me that it takes months and months to get to see any doctor, and when they do, they're usually told it will take quite a bit longer for approval if surgery is warranted. They pay for their healthcare with higher taxes and being charged to drive a vehicle on certain roads at certain times of the day. So, is their healthcare really "free?"
I don't think the US is poorer but that they are spending more on other things and helping other countries such as the UK.
They spend more on their military I think than most countries and countries that do have free health care is probably Americas and UKs money.
