American cars have bad record
My "American car" (Ram 1500 pickup) was built in Mexico, while my "Japanese car" (Subaru) was built in the USA.
I already have an American car.
I bought German (Audi) and Japanese (Lexus) because I thought the quality/price vs. American alternatives were better.
But I just bought a Tesla (American) and it's the best car I've ever owned. I think a new, innovation focused company is better equipped to make electric vehicles than the existing legacy car companies.
Because I'm not American.
I did once, a Dodge. While it was reliable in terms of starting when I needed it, other things broke on a regular basis. The sunroof for example, broke at least once every year for the first 3 years I owned it. The A/C was problematic as well, requiring multiple repairs before finally breaking down when it was 6 or 7 years old
Compare that to the Toyota I own now...the car is 12 years old and the A/C system still works. Ditto for the sunroof. The only non-maintenance repair I've had to do with the Toyota in the 7 years I've owned it is a leaking intake manifold gasket.
When shopping for my next car ( which won't be for a while as my current Toyota is still running like a champ ), another Toyota will be on my short-list.
Do you really think people do not or are you just looking to get a multitude of answers for some reason?
Sorry mister, but the reason I don't buy American cars is because I am not a racist! I have all types of cars from other races. I have an asian car that is really good at math! I have a mexican car that mows my lawn really well! I have a British car that runs on tea and has ****** up teeth! I have a Canadian car that is really nice and loves hockey. I had a black car but recently it went to jail :(. Wait a second, the cars I described aren't cars, they are people! I hope this helps! :)
Because they are crap
