How do you become a Top Contributor?
I want to become a top contributor but how?
- I've often wondered this myself. I've never seen anything about it before, so I thnk you for asking. The definition that was given, was interesting and informative.01
- To be a top contributor you need to be knowledgeable in up to three categories. the exact formula is kept secret by yahoo but the common theory is that you need a minimum of 10% best answers in each particular category and is said to be reviewed weekly. the top contributor badge is not permanent and can be removed at any time.
A top contributor badge is not hard to get just needs some dedication and some work.
So here are a few pointers to get you on your way.
First choose the category's you feel you can get best answer and research every detail you can find with links to add to the answer.
Try to be polite and answer the question accurately the and to the point.
Set yourself a target of how many questions to answer each day I recommend you start with 10, you can answer more when you become more confident.
Remember its not the amount of points that count it is the percentage of best answers that gets you the orange badge.
Try to be helpful and make a effort to do what you can to help.
Check your avatar every Monday that’s the day they add the badge (or it take away).
Read the blog below for more information.
- You become a Top Contributor by answering a lot of questions and get a high percentage of Best Answers in a particular category
While the exact formula for getting a TC badge is Y!A secret. it's a general belief that to get a TC badge you need to have at least 10% or more Best Answer overall first - then, IF you also have over 10% BA in a particular category, you will get a TC badge.
It means that, even if you have 10% BA say - for example, in Singles and dating category, but your overall percentage is not as high (because you also answered questions in other categories as well) then you would NOT get a TC badge
Hope this helps.
JUST KEEP ANSWERING...... you will get there!10
- To be a Top Contributor is of course very difficult...It depends on your activity here and not on the number of points you earn or the level you are in.
To be simple and cover all the details of becoming a TC here I go:-
Please be patient and look at the points I've written here...
♣Select a particular category(Stick to only one or two) which you feel you can answer maximum number of questions.
Eg:-Yahoo Answers,Video and Online Games and to mention a few...
♣Keep answering questions and try to give good quality answers, which will help you, earning Best Answers .You need lot of Best Answers to become a TC.
♣ Do not answer questions which you feel you won’t be getting a Best Answer at least until you become a TC. It’ll lower the percentage of Best Answers and it might not be possible to become a TC. This point is very important.
♣Be patient and make sure you answer questions everyday. Try to be polite and give a thought to answer the question. Answer to your knowledge and level and give what information is needed. Be as simple as possible but at times try to explain a bit.
•You know the saying that 'Tiny drops of water make a mighty ocean'
♣Answer at least 40-50 questions per week. That is 8-10 questions per day. Start with 5-6 and you can go to answer 20 questions soon.
♣On Monday mornings if these conditions are met then you'll have that Orange thingy bar below your avatar. When you earn that badge you get a lot of responsibility..So you should keep up the job of giving good answers.!
♣The limitations are that you have to keep on answering questions, as that badge is temporary and will disappear soon if you don't answer or get Best answers.
♣The right strategy is that you have to get lots of Best Answers to your questions at least around 10-11% for that category. It’s just a rumor but not exactly true. Just try for that (That's the key) and answer questions as many as you can.
♣It actually takes 2-3 weeks to become a TC and the amount of questions you answer daily. If you answer 50 questions and get 10-15 Best Answers then you'll likely be a TC in that week
♣Stick on to this and you can become a TC..
Remember that 'Rome was not built in a day' and you need lots of patience and answers to become one...
You can read the info here: -
My last thing is it does not depend on the level you're in but the activity and the number of Best Answers you get in a week. This is just a guideline you can use to follow.... But the exact formula is not known to anyone except Yahoo to prevent users from gaining that badge by cheating...You cannot become a Top Contributor in Polls and Surveys, Jokes and Riddles
Hope this Helps!!
All the Best!10
To become a TC ( Top Contributor), 3 steps are required.
(1) Choose a particular category
(2) Accumulate best answers
(3) Remain active.
The Yahoo! Staffs keep the TC formula confidential because Users would misuse the main purpose of being a TC. For example: A TC is supposed to be a knowledgeable individual in a particular category, and if Users find out what it exactly takes to become a TC, they would start becoming a TC unfairly. So this is the significant reason the Staffs keep the formula on how to become a TC confidential.
Nevertheless, very few Users ( particularly TC’s) know exactly what it takes to become a TC in a single week ( at least I feel I know the formula, if not pretty close).
So we go back to step 1, which is to choose a particular category, to begin the process. Make sure to choose a category you are knowledgeable in. ( i.e. if you know Mathematics well, then contribute your knowledge in the Mathematics category).
Step 2 requires BA ( Best Answer). BA means your answer(s) are correct, suitable, helpful or accurate. When someone asks a question, he/she expects an accurate, correct, suitable or informative answer, and that is what you are supposed to do; you are supposed to be a top contributor by providing accurate, helpful, informative and suitable answers in the category of your choice. The trick about becoming a TC all depends on the amount of BA you receive within a single week. Synonymously, if you answer 30 questions and receive 16 BA’s, you are likely to become a TC in that week.
Step 3 requires active contribution. This does not mean one has to answer a lot of questions every day; it simple means to show up at work. For example: I only answer 30 questions weekly, occasionally less or more, and I manage to retain my TC badge without having to worry about losing it. That is right, I only answer 2 to 5 questions daily, and sometimes I do not answer any questions for 3 days straight.
One more thing: try to accumulate 200+ points weekly in a particular category. This means you can answer 30 questions, which would be 60 points, and receive BA’s to make it up to 200+ points.
Note you gain 10 points for each BA, and an additional 1 point for each thumb up on your answer selected as the best.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Users can become a TC in up to 3 categories simultaneously ( I have also seen Users with 4 TC statuses).
The TC badge is not permanent. You gain it and lose it, depending on your recent contribution within the category(s) of your choice.
Users who are qualified for the TC badge will receive their badge on Monday morning, and once Users are given the TC badge, it takes exactly 3 weeks for the badge to be taken away if requirements are not met.
Certain categories, such as Poll and Survey, do not offer the TC badge because categories like those do not require knowledge sharing contribution.
Vote for your answers whenever they’re in voting. It is perfectly legal to vote for yourself with a single account. This will increase your chance for accumulating BA’s. However, using more than one account to vote your answers as best is against the Community Guidelines and will result the sudden termination of your account.
Take care, and I hope this information serves you well.52
