yes romo sucks and staubach would have lead them to a super bowl.
Yes Staubach more experienced and discipline. What he knew Romo as a rookie is still learning . He may never be a Staubach but with a little time and getting his head on straight he will be a good quarterback. He has already surpassed a few of the good quarterbacks when they were where he is now. Romo did not lose the last playoff game by his self the team just did not play. Not taking anything from the Giants it just seem like the boys had simply ran out of gas, from the very start of the game and never put their game face own !!!
yes probably. those two QBs performed better in the playoffs, and better during crunch time than Tony Romo. A lot of people are comparing Tony Romo to Brett Favre. and that is great, any QB would be lucky to be compared to one of the game's best ever, but Brett Favre throws a lot of INTs too, which is what Tony Romo does in the post season.
hard to tell....Romo played well considering the pass rush....the quarterback didn't lose that game
Staubach of Course. He was Awesome. White Maybe.
Yes they would have advanced further. Roger Staubach was the greatest quarterback that ever lived. OK, that is a bold statement but he has my vote. Anyway, he set records and almost always came through in the clutch. That's why he got the nickname, Captain Comeback.
Danny White was a great quarterback. He led the Cowboys to the NFC championship 3 consecutive years after Staubach retired, but they could never quite go to the big one and that is very sad.
The reason no one remembers the games Danny White won and the fact he set a few Cowboys records himself, is because he is sandwiched in between Staubach and Aikman. The not only won Super Bowls with the Cowboys, but they were both known as great quarterbacks through out the league. Just try working in someones, like Staubach, shadow. Those are huge cleats to dig into the turf. The Aikman comes along and BAM.
Tough crowd to compete with, period.
Danny White would have won a play off game with the current cowboys team! He took the 79 team that roger couldn't to the playoffs in 80. How is Danny White not a cowboys coach yet??? They would have won a playoff game if he was a coach too!!
on the final stress, punt the soccer on first down, have the protection carry'm and function Adam Jones block the punt and function yet another protective participant run it in for a landing....then they could desire to be advantageous.
Wow! What a great question!
First of all, I don't blame Romo for the playoff losses. He's come a long way in a year and a half. He's only played in two playoff games, one of those was as a virtual rookie and they should have one but Tony dropped the ball as a holder, not as a QB and I think the shrink wrap was still on that ball.
Although I like Danny White, he never got us a Super Bowl win. He almost beat the 9ers in 1981. After "the catch" by Dwight Clark he hit Drew Pearson for a long gainer with about 1 minute left. His next play he fumbled the snap and that was that. That is the way I remember him.
Staubach was another story. He was a winner! I remember hearing a interview with George Young, (the guy who built the 80"s Giants). He considered Staubach the best. He talked of Landry's one screw up of not putting Roger into SB5 & how as a Colt they were afraid of Staubach coming in. Roger always gave you a chance. Many on this forum love to put the 78 Steelers SB champs down as the greatest Defense ever.
Roger put up 31 points on that Defense.
Romo is young and his legacy is far from established!
Staubach is a alltime great. He was a fierce competitor. In Tex Schramm's book, he went on and on about Staubach's competitiveness. Staubach was a force, I think he would have been the difference in the playoffs by virtue of an incredible will to win. He often gets forgotten due to the fact he been retired a while. With all due respect to Aikman, Staubach was the best Cowboy Qb of all time.
Thanks for a great question!
